My first blog post! Yay.
My intention with this blog? Well, just some musings about interiors miscellanea as it enters my headspace!
To begin, delightful Autumn is here in Melbourne, daylight savings has ended and the days are shortening. It’s one of my favourite seasons for many reasons, and its not too cold, its just right.
Up in the Dandenong Ranges, I believe it’s one of the most beautiful seasons, with the myriad of trees about to showcase their vivid Autumn colours – a festival of yellows, oranges, golds and reds. I also love the opportunity to act like a child and to scrunch and kick my way through the carpet of dropped crinkly leaves! Who doesn't love that?!
It’s also a time to kindle a fire and to bake some comfort food like apple crumble. Mmmmm.
Also from a home perspective, the "cosy seasons" - Autumn into Winter, is a time to layer and to add some interesting textures in the form of tweeds, velvets, wools, linens and sheepskins or other hides.
Have you considered yet what accent colour you are going to introduce into your home this new season? It is time to herald new colours into your home making the transition from playful summer brights and pastels to warm blush tones or warm golds/mustards? Or perhaps some inky shades, forest green or plums/burgundy? All of these colours compliment the neutrals and the ubiquitous metallics which are still on the scene.
We certainly spend more time indoors during Autumn and Winter, so its also a time to welcome new scents into the home with the burning of some beautiful luxe soy candles setting a cosy atmosphere. Here at Auld Alliance Merchants, we have a choice of beautiful quality luxe candles from Australia and overseas to help make your house a home. We also have some gorgeous new season cushions and throws arriving soon from overseas.
Why don't you visit Auld Alliance Merchants in Olinda soon to make sure your home is ready for the "cosy seasons".
Here are some images to inspire and get you into this season’s mood.
Until next time...slainte.
